Project “Master” is a body of work created around a man with many titles. Mechanic, restorer, fabricator, driver and collector, all perfectly fitting given his rich history within the automotive and motorsport world. By creating this work, spending time in his environment and sharing stories, the only appropriate title I could give this project however, was Master.
He is not only a master of his craft, able to deploy a lifetimes worth of mechanical skill, but he’s a master of his space. As you explore his workshop environment, the level of thought and care that has gone into its curation slowly reveals itself, mirroring a lifetime of accrued memories and preferences. Commonly reached for tools hang next to family portraits and benches are lit using an ever growing collection of vintage lamps.
A master, he most certainly is. But I also know him by a different title. A title that fills me with great pride. Dad.
